Senior Health Care

Senior health care, or geriatric care, is a specialized branch of health care pertaining to care of the elderly. Senior citizens have a specific class of health care needs that differs from the general population, and are more likely to have chronic conditions and ailments such as Alzheimer’s.

At Western States Home Health Care Agency, Inc., though our services are not restricted to a specific age group, we do frequently work with elderly patients. Our staff of Registered Nurses (RNs) is skilled at providing the services needed for senior health care.

Geriatric Care Services

Elderly patients often have one or more chronic health conditions, and the interaction between multiple ailments requires careful planning and administration of treatments. Some conditions that disproportionately affect the elderly are:

  • Cardiovascular disease
  • Diabetes
  • Cancer
  • Hearing impairment
  • Arthritis
  • Dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease

In addition, as a person ages, they metabolize medications at different rates, so treatments need to be monitored and fine-tuned accordingly.

Our nurses can assist with all of these chronic conditions and more, by administering medication, making frequent visits for medical and emotional support, educating loved ones about treatment plans, and more.

Medical Support Staff

We also offer the services of other medical professionals to help the elderly in their daily lives. Occupational and physical therapists can help those who have lost mobility learn to adapt and recover, and also assist in arranging your living space to the safest possible configuration. They can provide training and instruction in the event that you need a wheelchair or need to use a cane or grabber, etc.

Speech and language pathologists can help in the event that an accident or dementia has resulted in the loss of speech ability. They will help you conduct exercises that improve your physical ability to produce speech, as well as improve your language sophistication and comprehension.

We are committed to providing geriatric care for seniors living anywhere in the Los Angeles or Orange County metro area. Please contact us if you or a loved one is in need of senior health care.
